Bicultural commitment

The kaiako of Hill Street fully acknowledge Māori as the tangata whenua of Aotearoa. Our curriculum is guided by the bicultural document Te Whāriki, and we strive to promote te reo Māori, tikanga Māori, and teaching and learning through a kaupapa Māori lens.
We acknowledge our role as partners in Te Tiriti o Waitangi. The promotion and implementation of the treaty values of participation, protection and partnership when working with whānau guides every decision we make in the centre.

We value the diverse and rich cultural backgrounds of all of our families. We strongly encourage children and families to share their rich culture with us so we can learn more about the world together.
